ACRE Studies
ACRE Studies, 2014
During a residency at ACRE in the serene, rolling landscapes of rural Steuben, Wisconsin, my work explored the tension between technology and nature. I intentionally corrupted a digital scanner, dismantling its internal components to disrupt its pristine function. With this new, fractured tool, I began to document the residency's surroundings, feeding the scanner a collection of organic matter—leaves, stones, and fallen branches. The resulting images are a collaboration between the forest floor and the damaged machine, where the delicate forms of nature merge with chaotic digital glitches, creating a visual language that speaks to both decay and transformation.
