Bar’am
Bar’am, 2016
This series was created in 2016 following a residency at the Kibbutz Bar'am Museum. Wandering through the kibbutz, my attention was drawn to its striking architecture, which blends functionalist design with a unique sense of utopian modernism. I photographed the notable buildings throughout the day, capturing how light and shadow interact with their forms.
The photographs were then digitally manipulated to strip the structures of all detail—removing doors, windows, and any surrounding context. This process left only the pure architectural forms, transforming the buildings into abstract, graphic shapes. By isolating these forms, the work elevates the kibbutz’s foundational principles from a functional purpose to a subject of aesthetic contemplation.
